Training for the Batavierenrace

This year I was finally able to join a team for the Batavierenrace, together with my study association Heeren XVII and the people from Di-Et-Tri. Today was the first time I was able to join the team training and I am very excited about it!

The Batavierenrace is a rely race organized by students from Dutch Universities, this year from Wageningen, Nijmegen and Enschede. It consists of 175 km and around 18 hours!!.

"The route of the Batavierenrace goes over 175 kilometers and contains 25 stages, of which 16 are men's and 9 are women's stages. There are three shifts, a night- (stage 1-9), morning- (stage 10-17) and dayshift (stage 18-25). The night-shift starts with an official start, in Nijmegen at 22:30 pm at the 'Grote Markt'. The morning-shift starts at Ulft at 06.30 am and the dayshift starts at Barchem at 11.00 am" [1].

Our team is called Fastfood since the Di-Et-Tri is the study association of the Nutrition and Health study, and well... we are fast.

In previous weeks the team joined together for dinner after the training, but this week it was not possible because we didn't have a suitable spot for it.

I am really looking forward to this experience since the previous two years the competition was cancelled due to COVID-19.

More updates will follow!
